PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a 1,3-bis(carboxyalkyl) tetraalkyldisiloxane in high efficiency. SOLUTION: The objective compound of formula (3) (R1 is a 1-3C alkyl such as methyl; R2 is a 3-5C alkylene such as propylene) is produced by producing a compound of formula (2) by the hydrolytic condensation reaction of a compound of formula (1) (X is a hydrolyzable group such as chlorine atom) and heating the obtained compound of formula (2) in the presence of water- containing sulfuric acid.
