PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material used for an ink jet or the like having higher resolution and allowing high ink absorbability and water resistance to be compatible. SOLUTION: The recording material comprises at least one porous layer having a hollow microcapsule obtained by coating a support with an aqueous liquid containing a solvent-containing microcapsule and a self-crosslinkable polymer fine particles and drying the liquid on the support.
