PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable silver halide photosensitive material for a laser imager having high sensitivity, free from unnecessary coloring in the visible region and having low fog, good sharpness and raw stock preservability, a heat developable silver halide photosensitive material for image setter output having an excellent silver tone and high contrast and an image forming method using each of the photosensitive materials. SOLUTION: Each of the heat developable silver halide photosensitive materials has a layer containing an organic silver salt, photosensitive silver halide grains and a reducing agent on the substrate and contains a dye having an absorbance of 0.4-2.0 in the wavelength range of 700-900 nm and an absorbance of <=0.2 in the visible region.
