<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photovoltaic element that has improved initial characteristics and is reliable even if it is manufactured by abrasive machining, and a method for manufacturing the photovoltaic element for reducing manufacturing costs. SOLUTION: In the photovoltaic element, at least a first conductive layer 103, a semiconductor layer 104, and a second conductive layer 105 are successively laminated on a substrate 101, and a split groove part 106 is formed at least on one layer by abrasive machining. At least one portion of the semiconductor layer 104 is a silicon layer with columnar microstructure.</p> |
