<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera and an image data processing method capable of changing quantization characteristic values, according to the characteristics of uncompressed image data. SOLUTION: A graph, representing the correlation between a scale factor and the file size of encoded image data, is displayed on an LCD by inquiring an exclusive LSI for compression of the file size of the encoded image data obtained by compressing image data stored in a RAM after photographing and before compression (S103). The change in the scale factor is received with the graph displayed on the LCD (S104), and the image data are compressed by using the quantization characteristic value decided by the changed scale factor to generate encoded image data, and the encoded image data are stored in a flash memory (S105).</p> |
