PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely remove a photosensitive layer formed on the surface of a conductive substrate as well as to prevent corrosion on the substrate surface or the substrate end, and further, to regenerate an electrophotographic photoreceptor while preventing uneven cleaning of the substrate surface. SOLUTION: An electrophotographic photoreceptor having a photosensitive layer formed on a conductive base body is immersed in a cleaning liquid of N-methylpyrolidone in an oversaturated state of the oxygen amount dissolved in the liquid and subjected to ultrasonic cleaning to remove the photosensitive layer.
