PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high strength universal joint capable of smoothly actuating, having a large rocking angle of a link, and receiving an axial load of the link. SOLUTION: A universal joint 11 is composed of a turning bearing attaching plate 13 having a forked yoke 12, a link 14 having a forked yoke 15, and a cross-shaped member 16 having cross-shaped shaft portions 16a, 16b coupled to the yokes 12, 15. A Y axis turning bearing is provided between the yoke 12 and the shaft portion 16b of the cross-shaped member 16, an X axis turning bearing 22 is provided between the yoke 15 and the shaft potion 16a of the cross-shaped member 16, and a Z axis turning bearing is provided at a lower end of the turning bearing attaching plate 13. The universal joint 11 has the degree of freedom of three rotations, so that the universal joint 11 is smoothly and lightly actuated, for example, when setting the position and attitude of a rocking platform in a parallel link mechanism.
