PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter device for endoscope which simplifies and facilitates the changeover of the illumination between by a battery type light source and the illumination from an external light source device. SOLUTION: This adapter device for endoscope has a lamp 35 which is freely attachable and detachable to and from an endoscope body 2 in which a light guide fiber 17 for introducing the illumination light for illuminating a part be diagnosed and inspected is bmlt and which generates the illumination light to be supplied to a light incident end of the light guide fiber 17 and the battery type light source 3 which has a battery 38 to light the lamp. The battery type light source 3 has a cable juncture 25 which allows the attachment and detachment of the illumination light exit end of a light guide cable 4 for guiding the illumination light from the external light source device. The light source device described above is adapted to change over the supply of the illumination light by the lamp 35 on the light incident end of the light guide fiber 17 of the endoscope body 2 and the supply of the illumination light by the light guide cable 4 to the illumination light incident end of the endoscope body 2.
