<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress a list of destination address of a connectionless multicast message. SOLUTION: Addresses A.B.C.D and A.B.C.E having a common prefixed part A.B.C are substituted by a single compound address A.B.C D,E} in order to compress a list of destination addresses A.B.C.D, A.B.C.E, and A.F.G.H of a connectionless multicast message. This compound address A.B.C D,E} consists of a common prefixed part A.B.C and a list D,E} of suffixed parts of addresses A.B.C.D and A.B.C.E, having the common prefixed part A.D.C. The compression techique is repeatedly applied not only to reduce the overhead required for multicast but also more quickly to perform collation of a routing table.</p> |
