<p>A method of, and apparatus for, detecting spitting of material from samples in a vacuum vessel during drying by vacuum evaporation of said samples is described, in particular during vacuum evaporation in a centrifugal evaporator or in a vortex evaporator, wherein momentary pressure increases inside the vacuum vessel, indicative of such spitting, are detected and used to activate a warning signal, which may be visible and/or audible, to alert the operator to the spitting. The warning signal may be used as a feedback signal in a control system which controls the motor of a vacuum pump or the motor rotating the samples.</p> |
