PURPOSE: An outer shell of a compressor is provided to reduce noise by resonance by preventing a resonance phenomenon of natural frequency and operation frequency formed by the outer shell. CONSTITUTION: In an outer shell of a compressor, natural frequency is shifted by forming recessed portions(Aa,Ab,Ba) recessing parts of upper and lower shells inward. The recessed portion of the outer shell is formed to the lower shell(50). The recessed portions are formed symmetrically or asymmetrically. Thus, a resonance phenomenon of natural frequency closely connected with operation frequency is controlled.
