<p>In a radio communication system a method of directing a communicating unit to utilise a communication resource includes the step of: informing a receiving communication unit, on a first channel or frequency, of at least one alternative channel or frequency (200) that is to be used for a communication if the first channel or frequency is used for a call. The at least one alternative frequency or channel (200) includes a single favourite frequency or channel (210) and a cyclically transmitted list of secondary frequencies or channels (212). This mechanism allows a base transceiver station (BTS) to indicate to a fleet of mobile stations (MSs) that are serviced by the BTS, a set of frequencies that will be used in the event that the current monitoring frequency ceases to remain available.</p> |
