PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve usability by a method wherein erasing of necessary font data in transmitted font data is prevented even when a power source is turned off. SOLUTION: Font data X transmitted from a PC is temporally stored in a RAM in a printer (S403). A counter for counting a use frequency of the font data X (counter for data X) is reset. When the font data X is not used in the printing, a normal printing operation is not executed (S407, S415). When the font data X is used, the counter for data X is incremented (S407, S409). When the incremented count value is greater than a predetermined value, the normal printing operation is executed after the font data X is transmitted to an HDD (S411, S413, S415). As a result, the font data having the high use frequency is transmitted to the HDD.
