PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the print start timing may be shifted by at most 1 line because the detection signal of each printed matter under carriage is asynchronous with an external sync signal (e.g. pulse signal from an encoder fixed to a conveyor) or a signal (internal sync signal) obtained by counting the atomization period of ink particle over 1 line and a digital error (1 period of sync signal) is present between the detection signal of each printed matter and the sync signal. SOLUTION: Digital error between a detection signal of each printed matter and a sync signal can be reduced by a factor of N (1 period of a reference clock) as compared with a conventional case by providing means for generating the reference timing of each line by dividing the frequency of a reference clock having a period equal to N (an integer of 1 or above) times that of each line, and means for synchronizing the detection signal of a printed matter with the reference timing of each line through the reference clock, and the shift of print start timing can be limited to at most 1/N line.
