PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for inspecting ink jet in which the state of one liquid drop ejected from an ink head can be detected accurately by measuring the state of liquid drop a plurality of times. SOLUTION: An object to be measured, i.e., a liquid drop, is placed between the light source of an optical system comprising one or a plurality of lenses for focusing the light source and the image thereof and then the image of the liquid drop is focused on an image sensor. In such an apparatus for inspecting ink jet, emission timing of the light source is adjusted such that at least two images of the same liquid drop fall within 1 frame.
