PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject coating agent capable of forming coating film excellent in water resistance and adhesion to plastic base. SOLUTION: This coating agent for plastic base comprises an emulsion of a (co)polymer consisting of homopolymer composed of one kind of monomer unit selected from the group consisting of acrylic ester-based monomer unit, methacrylic ester-based monomer unit, aromatic vinyl-based monomer unit and conjugated diene-based monomer unit and/or copolymer based on at least one kind of monomer unit selected from the above-mentioned monomer unit group; wherein the emulsion is dispersion-stabilized with an alcoholic hydroxy- bearing water-soluble polymer compound of >=2,000 in weight-average molecular weight and at least part of the water-soluble high-molecular compound is grafted to the above (co)polymer at a graft rate of 0.5-30 wt.%.
