METHOD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING 409 STAINLESS STEEL

PURPOSE: A method for continuous casting 409 stainless steel is provided to improve productivity and prevent increase of production cost by improving an equiaxed ratio in slab of 409 stainless steel not lowering the temperature of molten steel and the casting rate. CONSTITUTION: In a method for continuous casting 409 stainless molten steel, the method is characterized in that a nitrogen concentration of the molten steel is controlled by the following formula:£|atT=Tmold<£|<£|atT=Ttundish, log£| =-19755/(T+273)+7.78+0.07£Ti|-log£Ti|+0.045£r|where £|is a concentration (wt.) of element in molten steel, T is a temperature (deg.C) of molten steel, Tmold is a temperature (deg.C) of molten steel in a mold during casting, and Ttundish is a temperature (deg.C) of molten steel in tundish during casting.
