PURPOSE: A surface mounted inductance coil and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to obtain a compact size product by significantly reducing the total height of the inductance coil mounted to a printed circuit board. CONSTITUTION: An inductance coil comprises a ceramic base(10) and a core(12) attached to the ceramic base with a coil wound along the outer periphery of the core. The ceramic base has a central portion which is penetrated so as to perfectly accommodate the core, and conductive terminals(16) arranged at both ends of the ceramic base. The conductive terminal of the ceramic base and the vertical end of the coil are electrically connected via a conductive wire. The ceramic base has at the upper end a groove for passage of the conductive wire. The horizontal length of a lower panel(12a) of the core is shorter than the length of an upper panel(12b), such that the core is perfectly accommodated into the center of the ceramic base.
