PURPOSE: A water hammer absorber is installed to each part of pipeline connected with a water supplying device to drop water pressure to absorb water hammer generated by sudden change of pressure on closing a tap. CONSTITUTION: A water hammer absorber comprises an absorber main body(200) and a piston(400). The main body(200) is a pipe with both ends thereof opening. The piston(400) is installed to form inner spaces packed with nitrogen gas on both sides thereof. The piston is double-acting type operating by the sudden change of pressure to absorb water hammer. When a tap is suddenly closed, the piston pressurizes nitrogen gas to offset pressure to absorb water hammer.
