PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold flux contributed to the improvement of productivity in a continuous casting of a steel, with which the flow-lubricating action is provided by adding into a mold, and particularly, the stable operatability and the good quality are kept even in the case of the variation in quick casting speed at the non-stationary operation. SOLUTION: In the mold flux for continuous casting, the forming temperature (F1) of a stuck film layer formed between a casting mold and a cast slab solidified shell during continuous casting and the remelting temperature (F2) of this stuck film layer, satisfies the relational formulas F2<=0.8×F1+160, 1000 deg.C<=F1<=1300 deg.C, to restrain the development of a high melting point cuspidine crystal (3CaO.2SiO2.CaF2) in the stuck film layer formed between the mold and the cast slab solidified shell.
