[Also in Division D1] Nitro dyes, used for dyeing polyesters, have the general formula wherein A 1 and A 2 which may be the same or different are aliphatic, araliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radicals. Preferably A 1 and A 2 are cyclohexyl, methoxypropyl or phenyl optionally substituted by alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxy, hydroxy alkoxy, halogen, trifluoromethyl or acylamino. They are prepared by reacting a bis-(3-nitro-halophenyl)-sulphone with an amine A 1 NH 2 and/or A 2 NH 2 .
