PURPOSE: A power train makes asynchronous gearshift possible over the whole gearshift range using two one-way clutches and a separate clutch to improve gearshift quality. CONSTITUTION: A power train comprises a complex planetary gear set(1), an input device, multiple brake devices(B1, B2), a first unidirectional clutch(F1), a second unidirectional clutch(F2) and a separate clutch device, The complex planetary gear set(1) comprises a first simple planetary gear set(5) and a second simple planetary gear set(7). A planetary carrier(Ca1) of the first simple planetary gear set(5) and a ring gear(R2) of the second simple planetary gear set(7) are fixedly connected. A ring gear(R1) of the first simple planetary gear set(5) and a planetary carrier(Ca2) of the second simple planetary gear set(7) are fixedly connected. The planetary carrier(Ca1) of the first simple planetary gear set(5) acts as an output element. The input device makes three of the operational elements of the first and the second simple planetary gear sets(5, 7) get variable and selective input. The brake devices(B1, B2) operate to selectively make two of the operational elements of the first and the second simple planetary gear sets(5, 7) act as reactional elements. The first unidirectional clutch(F1) is interposed between one of the operational elements of the second simple planetary gear set(7) and a transmission housing(11) to act as reactional element on the forward first and second speeds and make free wheeling condition on forward third and fourth speeds. The second unidirectional clutch(F2) is interposed between the first unidirectional clutch(F1) and the planetary carrier(Ca2) of the second simple planetary gear set(7).
