PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an epoxy compound, capable of obtaining an epoxy compound from a 4C olefin-based compound in high selectivity in a high yield. SOLUTION: In this method for producing the epoxy compound from the 4C olefin-based compound using an oxidizing agent and a catalyst, the method for producing the epoxy compound is characterized in that the oxidizing agent is a solution of t-butylhydroperoxide and the catalyst is a system using both a molybdenum compound and an ester of boric acid.
