PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ointment for solving the problem of serious side effect of steroid preparations for external use by including a tranilast preparation or using same in combination with the steroid preparations. SOLUTION: It is widely known that tranilast preparations exhibit an antiallergic reaction, e.g. inhibition of the isolation of chemical mediators from the mast cell, inhibition of the collagen constriction of fibroblasts, inhibition of the growth of fibroblasts, inhibition of the production-isolation of cytokine such as TGF-βor the like, inhibition of the generation of active oxygens and inhibition of the vascular permeability of inflammatory substances. By these actions, the side effect of steroids is prevented effectively from expression by including the tranilast preparation in the steroid preparations for external use or using the tranilast preparation in combination with the steroid preparations.
