PURPOSE: A packet data service control method of mobile communication system is provided to restart the pack data service by using point-to-point protocol link when moving a terminal to a region of a new controller in hold or dormant state of a terminal. CONSTITUTION: The first terminal sets a corresponding serving base station, an old RNC(Radio Network Controller) and a packet data call in order to receive a radio packet data service. When the old RNC transmits a PDSN(Packet Data Service Node) of the first PDSN as a serving PDSN to the first terminal, the first terminal stores an identifier(PDSN ID) of itself serving PDSN(b1), a radio link protocol(RLP) is set between the first terminal and the old RNC of serving RNC(b2). After setting PPP link with the first PDSN(old PDSN) of serving PDSN, an authentication and an admission of the access and IP(Internet Protocol) from an home agent(HA) are allocated and then connected to the packet network such as Internet etc.(b3). When the terminal moves to a service region of the new RNC in a hold or dormant state and the re-connection origination call is attempted as new RNC, an identifier(PDSN ID) is transmitted to a new base station, the new base station transmits it to the new RNC(b4). When the terminal is in a hold state, the new RNC and a radio link protocol(RLP) are established(b5). The movement of the terminal informed to the mobile station, the connection between the new RNC and serving PDSN is maintained(b6) with reference to serving PDSN ID of the first terminal.
