<p>The melt is refined by blowing oxygen through a tuyere under the surface of the metallic bath in a converter. The O2 jet is enclosed by an opt. (non)continuous protective envelope of hydrocarbon or liquid hydrocarbon composition. Specif. the proportion of hydrocarbon used is 2 - 10 wt.% of the O2 injected, whilst the tuyere may be coaxial tubes, one inside the other, with interfacial channels between them of helicoidal form to produce gyratory movement of the circulating liquid.</p> |
