The radio network has a radio network controller and a number of associated terminals, with encoding of the transmitted data via an encoding key which is altered at given time points. The radio network controller transmits a signalisation which is encoded with the old key to each terminal, for indicating an alteration in the encoding key, the terminal responding by transmitting a signalisation encoded with the new key, for updating the encoding key.
