A random number (A) is produced in the central machine and sent to a remote machine where it is used with the program to be checked (L1) to generate a file (F1). A compression function (f) is then applied to the file (F1) to produce a result (R1). The result from the distant machine (R1) is transmitted back to the central machine where the initial random number (A) has been used with the master program (L2) and the compression function (f) to produce a second result (R2). The two results (R1, R2) are compared and if equal the distant program (L1) is the same as the master (L2).
