The invention relates to a method for producing a moulded body containing starch and to a homogenised material containing starch or a moulded body produced from the same. The inventive method is carried out in such a way th at the value of the Staudinger index of the resulting material is at least 40 ml/g, which guarantees a strain at break of the extruded material of at leas t 100 % at encapsulation temperature. Soft capsules with a one-piece capsule cover in particular can be produced from this material in a rotary die proce ss.
