PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front pillar for an automobile that can adequately mitigate impact on an obstruction while keeping its intrinsic rigidity. SOLUTION: A tube-sectioned front pillar 20 for an automobile 10 has, on its side facing an interior 21, bend portions 35 and 36 that promote deformation of the front pillar 20.
