PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for reducing the power consumption of a communication satellite including an RF transponder 1. SOLUTION: The method consists of a step (a) for operating at least one gateway 18 and leading out the record of a demand history to the transponder 1 as the function of the time and a position inside at least a part of a service area, the step (b) for predicting a future demand to the transponder 1 by using the record and the step (c) for changing the band width of the input filter of the transponder 1 corresponding to the predicted future demand and reducing reception noise to be amplified.
