PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video display device of an entirely novel form that permits display of a stereoscopic video image. SOLUTION: The video display device of this invention includes left eye and right eye use display devices 1, 2 that display a video information signal, a left eye use magnification optical system 3 that is placed between a left eye and the left eye use display device and a right eye use magnification optical system 4 that is placed between a right eye and the right eye use display device. A frame supports them in a way that a virtual image on a screen that is magnified when viewing video information displayed on the right eye use display device by the right eye through the right eye use magnification optical system is generated at a distance of the virtual image from the left and right eyes and optional elements of the virtual images on the left and right screens are coincident over the entire screen when the left and right eyes are directed to the virtual image on the screen so that the optical positional relation in congestion at a congestion angle depending on the distance D of the virtual image can be maintained. Displaying left and right video signals generated on the basis of the principles of stereoscopic indication by both-eye parallax on the left eye and right eye display devices allows a stereoscopic vision. |
