PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze errors generated in a printer efficiently. SOLUTION: The printer controller 2 of a printer 1 is provided with a section 10 for monitoring the errors in the printer. The error monitoring section 10 monitors generation of error for a predetermined data processing, e.g. image processing. When an error is detected, error information is recorded in an error file which is set in a PC card 5 in correspondence with the data to be printed, i.e., an image file. Error can be analyzed easily by simply removing the PC card 5 and sending it to the manufacturer.
