摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide alloy for non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which occlusion/emission capacity of Li is very large and discharge efficiency that is the ratio of emitted hydrogen against occluded hydrogen is also excellent, and in which volume change at the time of occlusion/emission is restrained. SOLUTION: Molten alloy composed of at least one species of Si and Zn and at least one species of element selected from IIA family of long period type in the periodic table, transition elements from IIIA family to IIB family, IIIB group, IVB family except for C, and VB group is coagulated by gas atomization method or by roll quenching method in which coagulation rate becomes more than 100 deg.C/sec., and powder of above alloy that has minute Si phase or Zn phase as the core is prepared, and by its immersion treatment in acid (for example HF, HCl, HNO3) aqueous solution, surface oxidized film is removed. If this alloy powder is used for a negative electrode of lithium secondary battery, a battery which has a high capacity and high charge discharge efficiency, and which is excellent in cycle life is obtained.
