PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weight detector by which the weight of a passenger sitting on a seat of a vehicle can be accurately detected even when there is misalignment between the seat of the vehicle and the floor of the vehicle. SOLUTION: A sensor unit 20 for detecting the weight of a passenger and a lower seat rail 22 for slidably guiding an upper seat rail 12 in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle are fixed on a seat bracket 18 fixed on the floor 16 of the vehicle room. The sensor unit 20 is provided with sensor brackets 30 and 32 which are sandwiched between an upper case 24 and a lower case 26 at its front and rear ends. Distortion sensors 34 and 36 are mounted on the outer surface of warped parts 30a and 32a of the sensor brackets 30 and 32. A controller detects the weight of the passenger in accordance with additional value of output signal of the distortion sensors 34 and 36. In such a construction, when the relative position between the upper case 24 and the lower case 26 varies fro and aft, the output signal of the vertical sensor increase/decrease reversely with each other.
