PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To back-fill the minimum quantity into a tail void simultaneously with excavation in excavating the hard ground. SOLUTION: An erector 31 is equipped to construct a segment ring 30 on the basis of a center point decentered downward by the specified quantityεfrom the cross section center of a shell 11 of a shield body. Filling pipes 21 of a back-filling device for a tail void are disposed in a clearance 33 obtained between the upper part of the assembled segment ring 30 and the inner periphery of the shell 11, to perform back-filling.
