PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing cup for a universal joint capable of preventing generation of cracking caused by deflection generated when a bearing cup is assembled with a joint cross. SOLUTION: In the bearing cup 5, the sum (A+B) of a protrusion size of a ring shaped protrusion part 7 of a bottom part 5B and a protrusion size B of a protrusion part 6 of an end surface 8 of a shaft part 2, is set to a size of 40% in the wall thickness d of the bottom part 5B. By this set size, as shown in Figure 1 (B), the bearing cup 5 is fitted to the shaft part 2 of the joint cross 1, and a peripheral part 20 of the bottom part 5B abuts on the peripheral part 8A of the end surface 8 of the shaft part 2 of the joint cross 1 before cracking is generated on the bottom part 5B when the bottom part 5B is pushed to the end surface 8 of the shaft part 2. Deflection of the bottom part 5B at the time of assembly is restricted so as to prevent generation of cracking.
