[Also in Division F2] A coupling arrangement for a flexible air tube 12 in an air conditioning system, comprises an annular first connector 15 having a substantially frusto-conical annular neck portion 16, which is adapted to tightly and sealingly fit into the bore of tube 12, with a face plate portion 17 extending radially outwardly therefrom and an outer flange portion 18 extending axially from the face 17 which has coupling formations 19, 20 thereon to interfit with like coupling formations on face 28 of a companion connector structure 26, which is adapted to be fitted in an opening in a main tube 11, for releasably coupling the connectors 15, 26 responsive to relative rotation of the connector 15 about its longitudinal axis. As shown the tubes 11, 12 are multi-layered for insulation purposes, the tube 11 being formed of a fibreglass tubing (11a) encased with aluminium or vinyl film (11b) and the tube 12 has a bore formed, eg., of a helix 12a of a spring wire or spirally wound metallic strip or a corrugated aluminium core, covered by insulating material 12b, preferably fibreglass wool, and an outer covering of vinyl tubing 12c. The connector 15 is mounted on the end of the tube 12 by inserting the neck portion 16, which has threads 16a, into the tube bore and retained therein by clamping the sleeve 12c on the outer periphery in a recess 18c defined by raised portions 18a, 18b on flange portion 18 by a band clamp 21, Fig. 6, (not 'shown). The connector 26 is mounted on tube 11 by spring clips 31 which engage the interior of the tube 11 and slots 28a in the bore 27 of the connector 26, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). The other end of the tube 12 is releasably coupled to another companion connector 13, Fig. 7, which is an annular terminator plate fixed in the ceiling of a room and has an abutment face 45 with coupling formations 44, 45a thereon which cooperate with coupling formations 19, 20 on the connector 15.
