According to invention, alkenes or alkene- containing hydrocarbon mixtures or at least their part are preliminarily brought into contact with water or solution of indicated mineral acid at temperature 20 to 80 C, preferably 40-70 C, and freed from at least majority of undissolved water or acid solution, or acid neutralization products.
