PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an image pickup device which is protected against deterioration in saturation, caused by a leakage charge related to a stroboscopic light and also against deterioration in image quality caused by reduction in blooming suppression characteristics. SOLUTION: An image pickup device used for photographing of a still picture is equipped with a CCD solid-state image pickup device 105, provided with a charge storage section and a charge transfer section, a CCD driver 106 which drives the image pickup device 105, a stroboscope 116 which is used for illuminating a subject, and a system controller 112, which controls the CCD driver 106 and the stroboscope 115 for controlling the light exposure, where the system controller 112 is so constituted as to output charge transfer pulses TG both at both times, when light emission is finished and when light exposure is finished, in a case where the image as an object of photographing is picked up.
