The invention relates to a method for forming an initial profile (10, 10x, 15, 16) or a tool of the kind that is provided with a profile chamber, by means of inner high pressure in such a way that an end profile is formed, whereby said pressure is generated in the sealed profile chamber by an active means that can flow. Said method is especially used for forming until the end profile rests on the wall of the forming chamber. Before forming by means of inner high pressure, the initial profile is formed at a distance to the free ends thereof and crosswise in relation to the longitudinal axis thereof to reach a cross-section with advantageous bending properties. The middle line of the component is formed and the cross-section thereof is deformed by means of inner high pressure during bending.
