PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a navigation system in which a guide map image generated by a remote navigation apparatus on the basis of a remote map is superposed on the correct position of an on-vehicle map so as to be displayed. SOLUTION: In an information downloading center 14, image data, for guide, which expresses a route guide, traffic information or the like is generated on the basis of a remote map, and the image data is transmitted to an on-vehicle navigation apparatus 12. In the on-vehicle navigation apparatus 12, an image which is based on data for guide image generation is superposed on an on- vehicle image so as to be displayed. In the information downloading center 14, image data, for matching processing, which expresses the position and the shape of a nearby road is generated on the basis of the remote map so as to be transmitted to the on-vehicle navigation apparatus 12. In a control part 20, an image which is expressed by the image data for matching processing is matched with the on-vehicle map, and error information between the on- vehicle map and the remote map is calculated. On the basis of the error information, the data for guide image generation is corrected. |
