PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an elliptical deflection yoke core that is low in deformation and distortion. SOLUTION: A circular deflection yoke core 4 is formed and calcined, and this deflection yoke core 4 is then divided in the Y-axis direction along an expanding slit 5. The respective divided surfaces 6, 6 of the divided deflection yoke core 4 are subjected to polishing processing and combined with each other, whereby the elliptical deflection yoke core 4 can be made. According such production process, an elliptical deflection yoke core having a dimensional precision the same as that in the conventional circular deflection yoke cores can be obtained. Further, as the mold and calcination furnace, conventional circular ones can be used.
