PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize 'soft landing' of a magnetic head on a disk-like recording medium, while making the structure simple and small-sized. SOLUTION: This disk drive device 1 is equipped with a magnetic head, which records or reproduces signals to or from a flexible magnetic disk(FD) 7 and a head arm which supports the magnetic head atop and is provided freely movably, by a linear motor part along a radius of the FD or in parallel to it, and a cantilever arm part 108c, which projects to the left is formed at the tip part of the head arm and a lifter 125 which acts on the cantilever part is provided on the track of the cantilever arm part, when the head arm is moved by the linear motor part. When the magnetic head is moved forward by the linear motor part, the lifter slides downwardly on an oblique surface for landing of the cantilever part relatively to land the head on the FD.
