PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having a lubricating film provided with low friction and excellent wear resistance and water repellency by improving a bond rate without executing treatment after application of a lubricant. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium has the lubricating film formed by applying the lubricant on the surface of the medium after irradiation with UV rays. This lubricant is a perfluoropolyether compound which has a benzene ring at its terminal group and preferably contains a piperonyl group in this terminal group.
