METHOD FOR PREVENTING CORROSION OF SHIELDING STRUCTURE AGAINST THERMAL NEUTRONS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking of a structure, in the transportation and storage containers for shielding material and spent nuclear fuel especially regarding the structure body which welding work is carried out. SOLUTION: This method is accomplished by utilizing a structure assembled through the welding work for stainless steel containing B under the environmental condition as follows: The concentration of Cl- ions is not more than 10 ppm, and the temperature is 80 deg.C or lower.
