PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel hydrogen storage battery that can enhance charging efficiency under high temperature atmosphere of nickel hydroxide, suppress oxidation deterioration of a negative electrode and elongate its life. SOLUTION: In an alkali storage battery consisting of a positive electrode of nickel oxide, a negative electrode of a hydrogen occlusion alloy powder for electrically and chemically occluding/emanating hydrogen, a separator, and an alkali electrolyte, into the positive electrode, the negative electrode, the separator, and/or the electrolyte is annexed a zinc and an rare earth element.
