A tilting pad thrust bearing has a housing 1 which supports pads 10, 20, against which a thrust collar 3 of a shaft bears. Each pad is supported by a bar 30 which joins the pad adjacent the centre of the pad. A rocker 50, 59 supports adjacent ends of adjacent bars. The rockers are supported for tilting in a tangential direction on the bearing housing by at least one roller having its axis radial to the shaft. The bars carry pegs 79 which are inserted in bores in the pads to allow a small amount of tilting movement but restrict translational movement. Pins 95 are provided to prevent translation of the rockers. |
