[Also in Divisions B8 and F1] A dual chamber injector comprises a piston syringe 1 with a chamber I and a nozzle 7, a receptacle 4 having a chamber II and a neck 15 a connecting member 2 screwed onto the neck 15, and a sleeve 3 mounted in member 2 so as to seal onto nozzle 7 and able to slide into the connecting member 2 to remove a sealing element 13 on the end of the connecting member 2, and thus provide communication between chambers I and II through apertures 9 which move clear of the inner surface of member 4. The parts are of plastics materials. In use, after the sealing element 13 is removed by moving sleeve 3 forward, a piston 6 is withdrawn to draw a liquid in chamber II into contact with chamber I. Syringe 1 and nozzle 7 are then withdrawn and an injection needle may be fitted to the syringe. The injector may have non-medical uses, e.g. as a dispenser for a cream obtained by mixing a freeze dried component in chamber I with a liquid in chamber II.</p> |
