<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for processing a bond such as a check or a bill for identifying the presence or absence of the MICR encode of a sum and preventing any double processing in the MICR encoding of the sum on the bill. SOLUTION: Upon placing a bond on a bond placing part 2, and starting the processing, while this bond is carried, a sum noted in the sum column and MICR encode area of the bond is read by a character reading sensor part 5, and when any sum is not MICR encoded in the MICR encode area, the read sum is MICR encoded on the bond by an MICR encode 7, and the bond is distributed to a received bond collecting part 9. Also, when the sum is already MICR encoded on the bond, the bond is distributed to a returned bond collecting part 10 without bending MICR encoded.</p> |
